“How can I fund my free software project?” is a question almost every free software organizer has. The rise of crowdfunding seems to present a great way to fund a project and allow it to stick to its vision, ethics, and goals. What are the advantages for a project to doing a crowdfunding campaign, as well as the challenges and pitfalls? Christopher Allan Webber, lead developer and project organizer of GNU MediaGoblin, talks about lessons learned from the two successful campaigns the project has run in conjunction with the Free Software Foundation.
